A Website

So it has happened, my friends. An official website is up and running for my ministry efforts. It's weird, having my "own little piece of cyber-space" - but at the same time, really exciting.
I've gotten great feedback from friends and family, and hopefully within the next few months, this website will bring me to many new and exciting places.

The URL is www.katieprejean.com

Check it out, shoot me an email with your thoughts.

God Bless,
Katie

The Soul's Worth

-More things have been written on the “true spirit of Christmas,” than can possibly be counted…more reflections have been posted, more homilies delivered, and more Hallmark cards proclaiming that December 25th is not merely a day for the consumption of fat, juicy turkeys or the endless hours of ripping over-priced wrapping paper to discover what’s hidden under the printed snowmen and Santas. And to jump on the bandwagon of these often rambling musings would be unbelievably cliché and seemingly pointless, but as I hopped from department store to department store today, seeking the perfect gifts and the most precious items to hand out to my beloved friends and family this Christmas, I found myself humming the tune of the old English Christmas carol, “O Holy Night,” and I was struck with the inspiration that can only come from the Holy Spirit.

-It comes in the 3rd and 4th lines…the most poignant words of the entire song…the phrase that startles the heart and mind…
“Long lay the world, in sin and error pining…’til He appeared, and the soul felt its worth…”

-Nestled amongst the lyrical lines that pour from the mouth with such grace, it is often lost and soon forgotten, hardly comparing to the announcement of “our dear Savior’s birth” or the proclamation to “fall on [the] knees…and hear the angel’s voices…” But it is the line that brings purpose, declares the entire point of Christmas…

-It was a world of pointlessness…a world with no ultimate reason for existing save for the love of God…But in an instant, through the great grace and power of God Almighty, the entire earth gained meaning…

-With the heavy breathing of a tired, perfect woman and the harried scrambling of a skilled, patient carpenter, Jesus – the Christ – God made man – came into this world. Wrapped in a piece of cloth, nothing more than a simple towel, and placed, ever so gently, in a feeding trough, the King, the epitome of humanity, the Lord and Savior slept…resting…probably whimpering softly from time to time and rocked back to sleep in His mother’s loving arms…

-He had appeared…He had arrived…He had come…and with that advent, that arrival, the world, the soul, found and felt its worth…

-Jesus Christ brought to the world the realization, the truth, of God…He presented for all of mankind the purpose of life – to love and serve the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob…the God of redemption…the God of power…the God who came to provide a chance for His world. And it is in that, the manifestation of God, that the world, the soul, finds its value, its entire point…

-There is no other point to Jesus…this was His purpose…this was His mission…to provide for all of mankind a startling look at what their reason for existing was – to serve Him…to share Him…to love Him.

-It is in recognizing this, in acknowledging that Jesus existed so that we might know and experience God, that we gain and understanding of who and what we are and where our ultimate purpose lies…

-This Christmas will provide for many a glimpse at decorated evergreens and shiny boxes with delicate bows…children will delight in the grand surprises and families will sit at tables recounting stories of old and laughing about Christmases past…stores will mark down every item come December 25th and everyone will wind down only to gear up for the holiday to arrive 364 days later…

-But it is in these moments that I hope you pause, taking just a moment to stop and realize that He has appeared – He has arrived – bringing with Him the reality of God and providing for you a point in your life…a worth to your soul…
